What to Expect on Your Fishing Charter

A guided, hands-on fishing experience on the Chesapeake Bay

Set up for success, whether it’s your first trip or your hundredth.

Target Top Chesapeake Bay Species

Target Chesapeake Bay species like rockfish, catfish, perch, spot, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, and cobia, depending on the season. We position the boat, set the spread, and guide you through what’s working that day.

We also offer hands-on crabbing trips when in season, a great option for groups looking for a more laid-back, interactive experience on the water.

Fully Guided Experience

No guesswork. We provide the gear, bait, licensing, and local knowledge; you focus on fishing. We’ll help with casting, technique, and reeling them in.

Hands-On or Laid Back — Your Call

Want to stay active and learn? We’ll coach you through it. Prefer to relax and enjoy the ride? We’ll keep things moving and put you on fish.

Local Water Knowledge

Fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, we run proven routes based on conditions, season, and bite patterns to give you the best shot at a productive day.

How Your Fishing Charter Works

Simple, guided, and built to put you on fish. No experience needed.

Meet at the Dock

Arrive at the marina, meet your captain, and get a quick rundown of the plan, safety, and current conditions.

Gear Up & Head Out

We provide rods, bait, and setup. Once you’re ready, we head into the Chesapeake Bay toward active fishing areas.

Lines In, Let’s Fish

We position the boat, set lines, and guide you through everything, casting, trolling, or bottom fishing depending on the bite.

Adjust to the Bite

We move, switch techniques, and adapt throughout the trip to stay on fish and maximize your chances.

Wrap Up & Head In

After your trip, we head back to the dock with your catch and a solid day on the water. We’ll clean and fillet your fish for you, or scale and gut them if you prefer to handle the rest yourself.

  • "we caught rockfish, spot, and croakers throughout the trip. The boat was clean and well-prepared, and the atmosphere was relaxed but exciting. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just looking for a fun day with loved ones, this trip delivers. Highly recommend and definitely planning to come back again!"

  • "We had about a 40 minute ride to our first spot and started reeling in fish after fish. Almost all were close to the max length! The spot was so hot, we left it intentionally to not over harvest. We fished a few more spots and began catch and release. A few of these were 26”+! It was a great day with wonderful memories made. We will 100% book Fools Gold Charters again!"

    Alicia D.

  • "Brady and Lexi did a great job putting us on fish, everyone in our party had a great time! The boat is super clean and spacious, Brady was very responsive in getting my questions answer over the past couple weeks. Once we got to the marina they didn’t waste any time getting us on board and out on the water. I will definitely be booking with them again in the future!"
